This wet/dry vacuum cleaner aims to improve the usability and the efficiency of a conventional machine currently available in the market. The main feature of this design is a leverage system that reduces physical stress on the operator when accessing the tank. In addition, by integrating a brush in the cart, this design offers an increased productivity and efficiency when vacuuming large areas.
The Project
The project was carried out by a group of two and the theme was outlined by Ghibli & Wirbel, Italy. The goal was to improve the usability of an existing machine with minimal added production costs. This allowed us to keep the parts that are currently being produced by the company while redesigning some of the parts that could benefit from a change.
In this project, various steps including product analysis, benchmarking, user analysis, ideation, CAD modeling, mechanical design calculations, technical drawings, BOM development, FEM analysis, materials and production methods selection, and rendering were carried out.
